Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Android Gingerbread was released with the addition of download manager to manage downloaded files, emails and attachments with improved battery efficiency, natively support and additional sensors such as a barometer.
Android 2.3 gingerbread released on February 9 , 2011, with many more updates like 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 2.3.3,2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 2.3.7 between December 2010 to September 21 , 2011.
Android Gingerbread is the codename given to version 2.3 of the Android platform. Some of the improvements in this version include a refined user interface, faster text input, support for near field communication (NFC) and system enhancements for game development.
Gingerbread was officially launched at the ending month of 2010 year, that is in the month of December 2010. This version includes features like supporting of more than one camera, internet calling, download manager and many more features including different kinds of sensors.
Android 2,3 mostly contained calling features and improvements to few of the built-in apps.
