Android 2.2. Froyo
Since its initial launch on the T-Mobile G1 in October of 2008, Google's Android operating system has evolved rapidly -- perhaps more rapidly than any other operating system in recent memory -- to become one of the most important and prolific smartphone platforms in the market today. Its latest incarnation, announced at Google's I/O conference in San Francisco this week, began life as codename "Froyo" (continuing its tradition of naming new versions as desserts in alphabetical order, starting with Cupcake) to officially become Android 2.2 . Don't be fooled by the mere 0.1 boost in the version number over 2.1 Eclair, though -- this is a huge upgrade that represents the most user-friendly, compelling, and feature-complete version of the little green guy to date.
This Android version mainly focused on improving the speed, and which was done by adopting the javascript compiler engine from Chrome, and improved the browser support by adding animated GIF support, Flash 10.1 plugin along with USB and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
Android 2.2 Froyo Supported for user using voice typing search and also controlled them phone without any touch, allowing user to install any application on memory card with the capacity of 4GB & 8GB.
Adobe flash support, USB tethering, wifi hotspot functionality was some other important updates in this version.
Android 2.2 free released on 20 may 2010, with a further three more updates with new features.
Android 2.2.1 released on 18 Jun 2011 and with improved features.
Android 2.2.2 released on 22January 2011 for security updates.
Android 2.2.3 released on 21 November 2011 for additional 2 security updated.
Android 2.2 (Froyo) wasn’t really a huge update as compared to its future updates.
